Who ever had the experience of watching the geodesic structure of The Cave to be filled with air in highest speed, will remember how often he was annoyed at bad manuals or plug joins.
On Friday, 20th of May we welcomed over 100 guests to the jubilee party on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Frackenpohl Poulheim. After enjoying interesting and entertaining short lectures we celebrated a night-long party. Thank you again to all the mentors and clients to support us through the past decade.
Also we would like to thank all the hard-working hands, that made the evening so wonderful – especially the Frackenpohl Poulheim Design Team.

Frackenpohl Poulheim will make a contribution to the C´n´B 2011 in Cologne together with Eckard Foltin from Bayer MaterialScience and Ralf Nähring from dreiform. The presentation “From Megatrends to Business: Experience Open Innovation” will show, how the team of Frackenpohl Poulheim supports the Creative Center of BMS during the different phases of the Innovation Process.
The presentation and panel will take place on Friday, 24th of June between 03:00 – 04:15 pm in the Staatenhaus/Rheinpark in Cologne.
At the Global Service Jam more than 1200 service-designer in around 60 cities worldwide came together on March 11th 2011. The task for all participants was, to design a service solution on the topic SUPERHEROES within 48 hours only. It was a good chance to get to know interesting people and try out new and innovative methods.
Thorsten Frackenpohl took the opportunity to participate and developed “Incredible Travels” in a team of five. It is a travel agency for school classes that specially aims to identify and highlight the strength of each of the pupils in a sustainable way. The idea and its visualization was well received and won the public prize for the best submission from Cologne.
Thanks go the organization team of the Jam, to the KISD as a host and for sure to the other team members Bianca Bender, Annika Hertz, Minka Rössner und Jeanette Weber.

The iF International Forum Design in Hannover invited Thorsten Frackenpohl to be part of this year´s jury of the iF product design award 2011. Conjointly with experts and colleagues from all over the world, he was asked to evaluate over 2.700 products and decide, if the submissions would be worth receiving an award. The result were fascinating days full of discussions and sometimes controversy, but also with a lot of valuable exchange and enjoyment.

The Vodafone Webbox is the first system of its kind, bringing a new way of viewing and accessing the internet based on a reliable existing cell phone platform. Setup is plug and play, using an existing TV.
The Webbox has been conceived and design by Frackenpohl Poulheim and the Vodafone Industrial Design Team.

Deeluxe again presented an entire collection of Snowboardboots on ISPO fair in February 2011 designed by Frackenpohl Poulheim. This year´s focus was set on C3 Concept Boot, that stands for a paradigm shift in boot construction.

The design of housing and interface of mobile Vodafone Router R201 are based on the principles of Universal Design or design for all. It is a pleasure for us to recognize, that 2010 GOOD DESIGN Award jury also found the design of the device worthy to be awarded with the correspondent award for design distinction.

Global telecommunication company Vodafone launched its first own branded Smartphones in autumn 2010. The design of both touch devices has been realised by Frackenpohl Poulheim in close cooperation with the Vodafone Industrial Design team. The Vodafone 945 has been awarded with North-American 2010 GOOD DESIGN Award in December 2010.

The newest material supplement of design magazine "form - The Making of Design" issue 235 November/December covers the story of creating research robot Myon. Kathrin Spohr especially gives an account of the development of the coextruded Polycarbonate Sheet material, that is used for Myons outer shell.

First public presentation of the robot "Myon" took place at the DMY International Design Festival in Berlin in June 2010. Frackenpohl Poulheim has created the character and the appearance of the humanoid robot in cooperation with the laboratory for neurorobotics at the department for computer science at the Humboldt University Berlin and the material experts from Bayer MaterialScience.

In the current issue No. 230, January/February 2010, the magazine "form - The Making of Design" reports about the Snowboard Softboot Collection 2010/11 designed by Frackenpohl Poulheim for the brand Deeluxe. The focus lies on the design and development process of the shoes, which ranges from product planning to delivery of production patterns.

At a personal invitation from the organizer 83 experts attended the three day conference from 12 - 14 November 2009 in Weimar, including André Poulheim and Thorsten Frackenpohl. In five workshops the participants developed substantial impulses for a holistic view of universal design in Germany. These impulses have been summarized in the "Weimarer Erklärung".

The German Design Council, Die Neue Sammlung Munich and the Neue Museum Nürnberg present the exhibition Design Germany: case study 08 from 25 July - 05 October 2008. The exhibition presents a thematically arranged cross-section of current and classic designs by German designers and companies from different industries. Frackenpohl Poulheim is on board and shows the snowboard softboot "Empire Lara" by Deeluxe at the exhibition. The shoe has already been nominated for the Volvo Sports Design Award 2007 in the category board equipment.
Frackenpohl Poulheim is an international agency for industrial design and product development situated in Cologne and is currently engaging five employees.
