The Mobile Connect Portfolio of Vodafone includes a variety of products to establish an internet connection via UMTS at home or in transit. Part of the products we have designed were a number of USB sticks, a cable modem, data cards and a combination of computer mouse and modem in one unit.
The idea to combine the UMTS modem and computer mouse in one object, which was generated by Vodafone Global, was transferred into a product concept and made ready for the market by us. Our aim was to integrate the two main functions directly into the formal-aesthetic design, to achieve a clear distinction from a conventional mouse. In this case, the upper half of the mouse can be shifted, to switch the modem function either on or off. Due to the shift while the modem is in operation, the backlit display elements appear in the now visible area, enabling a rapid and unequivocal detection of connectivity.
