Projects ǀ Vodafone R201 Mobile Wi-Fi Router ǀ
The Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi R201 allows several Wi-Fi enabled devices (for example PCs, mobile gaming devices, digital music players) to share a secure mobile internet connection. The device is battery, mains or USB powered, and this flexibility allows the device to be positioned for best mobile coverage and then share this coverage between several devices via Wi-Fi. Furthermore the R201 can be configured to allow files from a MicroSDHC™ card to be shared among several Wi-Fi devices via the web browsers of the connecting devices.
The design of housing and interface are based on the principles of Universal Design or design for all. The self-explaining technical function, a pure design and the reduction of control elements to a minimal, yet logical degree secure, that the mobile Wi-Fi Router can be used by everybody, no matter how much experience the user might have with electronic equipment. It is a pleasure for us to recognize, that 2010 GOOD DESIGN Award jury also found the design of the device worthy to be awarded with the correspondent award for design distinction. The Vodafone R201 has been designed by Frackenpohl Poulheim in cooperation with the global Vodafone Industrial Design team.
